Pinch me!! I'm in Level 3!!!

Updated: Mar 7, 2022

As I write this blog post, I just attended the Final Presentation of a fellow Altenew Participant so she can achieve being an Educator! She did amazing and made me want to work hard so I can be next on the list! So I am pumped to begin my last leg on this journey! For my first Level 3 Class, I chose Erum's Advanced Watercoloring Class. I actually took this class last spring of 2021 before I even applied to AECP! As I look back on the coursework I did for Erum's class, I can't help but shake my head!! hahaha. The cards were awful! So then I applied to the program in June, have taken 20 classes, attended many wonderful workshops and now I'm re taking Erum's class once again, this time with a very different perspective.

I attended Altenew's Winter Retreat in January 2022, had SO MUCH FUN!! and the day the sign ups opened for Altenew's Spring Retreat, I bet I was in the top ten purchasers!!!

When my box arrived (squeak!) I opened up those goodies and instantly knew my first project would be to watercolor the fabulous floral.

Supplies used were:

  • Altenew's 36 color pan set

  • Altenew's Watercolor Brushes

  • Calming Cluster Stamp Set (found within the Spring Retreat Bundle)

  • Altenew metallic pan set (splatters)

Techniques:

  • Heat Embossing

  • Watercoloring using wet on wet technique

  • Die Cutting

I began by heat embossing the image with silver embossing powder. I chose various shades of pinks and greens from the pan set, mostly concentrating with coral berry, cotton candy, purple wine, frayed leaf and forest glades. Let dry overnight. The splatters came from Prasiolite Ink in the metallic pan set. Cut the base down to 4x 5.25 and attach to an A2 Card Base. Take the THANKS sentiment, run thru your die cutting machine, apply adhesive to back via your choice of adhesive and attach to card.
